TOWN OF JASPER
At the heart of Jasper National Park is the picturesque community of Jasper. Self-described as a little town in a big park it is a fantastic place to base yourself to explore this alpine paradise.
MALIGNE LAKE & SPIRIT ISLAND
One of the most photographed islands in the world! Cruise on the emerald waters with a Maligne Lake Boat Tour or try your hand at fly fishing and enjoy the challenge of landing a freshwater trout. Make sure that you take a few big breathes of all that fresh air and pinch yourself a few times that you are really there!
MIETTE HOTSPRINGS
The hottest hot springs in the Canadian Rockies! From Highway 16, take a scenic drive up the Fiddle Valley to find the Miette natural hot springs where water flows from the mountain at 54ºC and is cooled to a pleasant 40ºC as it enters the hot springs pool. What a way to relax!
JASPER TRAMWAY
Ascend up Whistlers Mountain 7472ft above sea level on board the Jasper Tramway. Magnificent bird’s eye view of glacial lakes and six mountain ranges! There is a guide onboard to share points of interest and answer all of your questions.
DARK SKY PRESERVE
Jasper National Park is the second largest dark sky preserve in the world! There is next to no artificial light visible at night making it the best place for a stargazing experience. Starry nights and the Milky Way look amazing out here - bring your tripod! October is Dark Sky Month in the Jasper National Park with celebrations and all sorts of activities taking place for the Jasper Dark Sky Festival. It's a treat for all budding astronomers.
ATHABASCA FALLS
A powerful, picturesque waterfall, Athabasca Falls is not known so much for the height of the falls, as it is known for its force due to the large quantity of water falling into the gorge. Viewing platforms and walking trails help capture that great photo.
COLUMBIA ICEFIELDS
The largest icefield in the Canadian Rockies. Take a trip on Brewsters "Ice Explorer" out onto the Athabasca Glacier. Informative guides share history and the geology of the glacier. Or take a self-guided icewalk. Make sure to take an empty bottle to collect a glacial water sample!
LAC BEAUVERT
Beauvert Lake is home to the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. The lake offers some of the most stunning natural colours. Hike the 3.9km perimeter in just over an hour or rent a canoe and paddle the lake. In winter try ice skating. If you are in to geocaching this is a great spot for it - any season.
