Where is Sun Peaks ski resort?
The Sun Peaks Resort is spread across 4200 acres – which makes it just as large as Lake Louise, as well the second biggest ski area in Canada – second only to Whistler.
Located within British Columbia, it's an easy 45-minute drive from Kamloops. The gorgeous little town is lined with pastel coloured, picture-book style houses and stores, lit warmly in the evening with an inviting glow. It's like stepping into a white Christmas movie.
Family-friendly skiing
This endearingly small, purpose-built village is a fantastic family holiday destination, hosting baby slopes right by the town’s centre, and a safe, traffic-free main street.
Plus, there is an array of child-minding and ski school facilities, and loads of fun activities for the kids to get stuck in to - so you can have a day to yourself on the slopes!
Sun Peaks ski runs
Sun Peaks resort has over 130 runs – spread over various mountains. The cutely named Sunny Sundance Mountain is, as you’d imagine, perfect for the kids, with a selection of smooth and lightly graded groomed runs for newbies and intermediates.
Mt Tod offers terrain for the more advanced, with a vertical of over 800m, open bowls, long groomed runs and complicated gladed runs on ungroomed powder. And if you really want to earn your lunchtime beer, there’s Mt Morrissey – with steep runs and lengthy cruisers.
Sun Peaks restaurants and nightlife
While it’s not the thriving hub of nightlife that is Whistler, Sun Peaks still has great shopping, cafes, and restaurants. There are a few cool bars around too – but keep in mind that this resort is family orientated, so don’t get your hopes up if you’re looking for a loose party spot.
